How Does a Vascular Ultrasound Work?
Vascular ultrasound employs high-frequency sound waves to generate detailed images. These waves penetrate your soft tissues and blood vessels, creating echoes. Our computers then translate these echoes into visual images or videos.
How Should I Prepare for a Vascular Ultrasound?
We recommend wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothes.
What Occurs During a Vascular Ultrasound?
You will lie down on an examination table. We will then apply a lubricating gel to the areas of your skin where we will be inspecting your arteries and veins.
A special device called a transducer will be placed against your skin. You may feel slight pressure as the probe is moved over the area. Additionally, you might hear the sound of your blood flowing, resembling a pulsing or whooshing noise.
We then wipe the gel away and you may return to work or other activities immediately after your exam.
