Frown Lines/Crows Feet
What Are Crows Feet & Frown Lines?
As you get older, fine lines develop around the outer corners of your eyes. Commonly known or referred to as lateral crow’s feet or laugh lines, these lines are a visible sign of ageing. Frown lines, also referred to as worry lines are the vertical lines that appear between your eyebrows. These may become prominent at a younger age and can lead to a resting expression of anger or worry.
Initially, these lines appear only when you smile or squint, but over time, they can become permanent fixtures on your face, visible even when your face is at rest.
What Causes Crows Feet & Frown Lines?
Collagen and natural enzymes in your skin help to maintain its youthful and supple appearance. As you age though, collagen levels diminish, and skin becomes less firm and supple, leading to the formation of wrinkles.

Treatment
- Botox®: Low-dose Botox® can effectively soften crow’s feet and frown lines. We favour moderate treatment to maintain a natural appearance. Excessive use of Botox® can result in a frozen, unnatural appearance. While it does reduce wrinkles, over-treatment can distort facial features and create an unflattering outcome. Our team at Cosmetic and Veins Clinic use Botox treatments as part of a plan to best suit your preferences and arrive at a result that looks natural.
- Dermal Filler: Also used to smooth crow’s feet and frown lines, dermal filler are a clear injectable gel that hydrates and supports the skin from beneath. An effective solution for natural-looking facial rejuvenation.
Management & Prevention
The formation of crow’s feet and frown lines is a normal part of ageing; however, certain precautions can slow their development.
- Sunscreen: Exposure to UV rays can accelerate skin ageing and it is essential to apply sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30 on all exposed skin. Additionally, wearing a hat and sunglasses can help prevent squinting and further protect your skin.
- Hydrating Skincare Products: Utilising a moisturising cream helps to lock in moisture, minimising fine lines and giving the skin a more youthful appearance.
