Lip Fillers

As we age, factors like sun exposure and hormonal fluctuations can lead to thinning of the lips. Lip fillers offer an immediate solution to restore lost volume, and deliver a noticeable, yet natural-looking enhancement that can last for up to 12 months.

How Does Lip Filler Work?

Lip filler is a widely sought-after injectable treatment, and enhances the shape and fullness of lips by boosting both definition and volume. This treatment uses a gel-based dermal filler containing hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally in the skin, which declines with age. Once applied, the filler immediately plumps the lips, creating a fuller and more defined appearance.

Treatment Advice

Before Your Treatment

  • While lip fillers provide immediate results, it pays to schedule treatments to leave enough time before any upcoming events to let any bruising or swelling subside.
  • It is normal to feel a bit anxious before your first lip filler session, but you’re in safe hands at Cosmetic & Veins Clinic. Our team of highly-trained and experienced medical professionals will take you through the process, and answer all your questions.

After Your Treatment

  • Following a lip filler procedure, you might notice redness or pinkness at the site of treatment. This is common and should subside within a few hours. Bruising may also show in days following treatment.
  • It is best to refrain from consuming alcohol, engaging in strenuous activities, or touching and massaging treated areas for at least 24 hours. If there is swelling, then ice or a cold pack can help.
  • One very rare but potentially serious side effect of filler is tissue necrosis. This can happen if blood vessels near the injection site are blocked, impeding blood flow. Prompt action is crucial to prevent this complication. Contact us immediately if you notice any signs of ‘duskiness’ or greyish patches. Our extensive medical training in anatomy and use of ultrasound and other tools makes this even less likely to occur.
