Wrinkles

What Are Wrinkles?

Wrinkles are a consequence of ageing, commonly appearing on sun-exposed areas like the face, neck, hands, and forearms.

If you’re concerned about wrinkles, a variety of treatments can help reduce their appearance. At Cosmetic and Veins Clinic, we offer a range of options including injectable treatments, medical skincare products and skin-resurfacing methods.

What Causes Wrinkles?

Wrinkles are caused by various factors – some are within your control and others are not.

These include:

  • Ageing: As we age, our skin naturally loses its elasticity, becomes drier, and loses fat and collagen in its deeper layers. This results in the formation of lines, creases, and sagging skin.
  • UV Exposure: Exposure to ultraviolet radiation from sunlight or other sources accelerates skin ageing, especially in people who are prone to sunburn. UV rays break down collagen and elastin fibres, weakening the skin’s structure and reducing its flexibility.
  • Smoking: Tobacco smoke and environmental pollutants accelerate the ageing process, contributing to wrinkles and other skin issues.
  • Genetics: Your genetic makeup significantly affects the appearance and texture of your skin, including susceptibility to wrinkles.

Wrinkles Treatment

At Cosmetic & Veins Clinic, we offer several wrinkle treatment options.

  • Botox®: Administered in small quantities to targeted muscles, Botox® injections, inhibit muscle movement, which results in smoother-looking skin. Botox is particularly effective for treating frown lines between the eyebrows, wrinkles on the forehead, and crow’s feet around the eyes.
  • Dermal Fillers: Small amounts of dermal filler in key facial areas such as the cheeks, chin, and forehead can boost volume and provide a subtle lifting effect, smoothing lines and creases.
  • Laser Resurfacing: Facial rejuvenation treatments that use precisely targeted energy to enhance skin appearance can help smooth and improve skin texture.

A consultation with one of our cosmetic doctors at Cosmetic & Veins Clinic will enable you to decide on a treatment plan to suit your needs. During your appointment, we will discuss your concerns and aspirations and create your customised treatment plan.
